Relationship

The past few weeks has been trying to work on Vera to start a routine that will fit having CGM and Tues ldrs meet. She has to sleep by 730pm and hopefully not wake up at all cos cg will be from then till about 930-10pm which is time for her next feed. And with the praise and worship going on in the living room, Im not sure if she will be awaken. Hmm ...

Sometimes I have the feeling of being out of sight, out of mind.. so maybe its time to reconnect. Relationship precedes ministry. And relationship is what ministry is all about.

Tzehui is having his school break and its such a joy to have a 'helper' at home! While he cares for Vera, I can catch up on my beloved sleep, do some reading and all. Its awesome! Managed to go on a date while getting my mom to help babysit. I did my facial while Thui had a massage. It was heavenly after missing it so long. :)

While Thui is around, we took Vera out even more. haha. went Bishan, Square2, Novena Sq, Orchard, Plaza Sing.. Now my gal likes going out! She sleeps well when the pram goes bump bump bump. Her routine seems a little messy nowsaday too since Thui is home. He likes to carry her and spends quality time staring at each other. So now, when she cries longer when we refused to carry her. haiz........ But well, I guess all will be well soon when Thui goes back to work next week. haha.

Vera is growing by the day. Weighing at 4.06kg now, she can return a smile and its really heart-warming. She also makes little 'noises' and its getter soo adorable. Im so in love with her! :D This is one of my favorite photo of her so far. She looks sooo innocent and cute!

My life NOW seems to only be filled with Vera. But guess this will soon end when I go back to work. I have many things I need to work on.. but meanwhile, I shall devote my time and energy to her. She will soon grow up and I know Ill miss these moments with her as a baby...

Outings with Vera

Ever since the 1st month party is over, I've been eager to bring Vera out! :) And I realised it can be super tiring! Where has my shopping stamina gone to?? Argh! Ive to get it all back! hahaha

Vera is growing well. She is feeding and sleeping well. I am soooo proud of her. She is amazing. Every mom's dream girl. In fact she is sleeping through the night except for the much needed feed.

Brought her for vacination today. The paediatrician vaccine & GP's apparently are the same but the cost differs greatly!!! Hence Ive Vera done her developmental check (she is weighing at 3.72kg, 53.5cm in length with head circumference of 36.5cm) at the Children's Clinic by Dr Heng (Paediatrician) and her vaccine at My Family Clinic (GP) by Dr Goh. I must say Dr Goh is so gentle with her. Good looking too. And he is still single! haha Maybe I can pair him up with one of my N389 gals. :p

Tomorrow going on a date with hubby to TGIF. Looking forward to it! :) And also towards the upcoming Father's Day! It will be Tzehui's first. Bet he is excited. I can see the fatherly love in him as he holds and cuddles our little precious. But since he is normally back after work at about 8-9pm, thats about Vera's sleeping time too. Too much stimulation will bring no rest to us since she cant sleep well then. So he has to restrain himself from playing with her too much. As for me, Ive the whole day with her. Couldnt be more blessed. But she sleep alot also during the day. Moreover she is only a baby and cant play much yet. Looking forward to her growing up.

Confinement for 1 month:

Ive my fair share of hearing all the old wives tales on not drinking DOM, not eating ginger, cant bath, cannot wash hair etc etc.. Well.. not sure what is true and whats not, I simply do what I felt was right! haha.. :p

The first few days was super tiring as Ive not gotten used to feeding every 2.5 to 3hrs. Well, its not really the lack of sleep but trying to wake my sleepyhead daughter up for her feed!! No matter what I do she refuses to wake up... so its a battle of her timing vs mine. And you are right, I do believe in PDF: Parent-directing-feed. Now she is on routine and I know the rough timing of her next feed w/o having to second guess if her cries at an odd hour meant hunger. This is one of my 1st achievement.. :) Now she is on total BF. :)

On 6 May her umbilical cord finally dropped! this made bathing her much simplier! :D

Her weight has also grew steadily for the past few weeks. On discharge, she weighed at 2720g and today at 3210g. Readings say 30g per day is healthy.

Chinese name

It was really not easy to give her a chinese name as hubby and my chinese is so not-to-standard! Those we chose either sound nice but had bad meaning or sound too common. However we finally settled with 陈芷琦 (Chen Zhi Qi). Her name is registered only as Vera Tan.

Jaundice

Well she is down with slight jaundice on 2nd wk of May. The next day happened to be my birthday & its my 1st Mother's Day too. I couldnt bear to leave her in hospital so hubby suggested we rent the light home & watch her instead. It was a great decision as it cost us much lesser and we were also able to have her stayed home with us.

Many friends also came down to give me a pleasant surprise. I was really touched.

29 May- 1st month Party

This day finally came and we had a great celebration. I was physically worn out but it was certainly a great time of catching up with friends and relatives after a 1 long month break! Vera also received many beautiful gifts.. Thanks to all the uncles & aunties!!

Back In Action

Now that Im on confinement, Ive plenty of time when my gal is sleeping. So Im back to blogging. Hopefully will be on top of it regularly. :D

Hmm where shall I start?

From the time I realised Im pregnant.. Im elated of course, needless to say! Time passes slowly as I await for the delivery of my girl.. Here is some memorable quotes from my gynae- Dr CH Koh:

Me: (in the midst of doing the ultrascan) Is this the baby's heartbeat?

Gynae: Its the 2nd national anthem!

Gynae: (to me) From now onwards, you need to do finger, mouth exercise.

Me: huh? what do you mean?

Gynae: Since it is your hubby that got you into this problem, instruct him to sweep/mop the floor, wash the dishes, do the laundry...

(hubby gave a stone face & tries to smile. haha)

Me: (ultrascan) Isit a boy or girl?

Gynae: Start writing a 'M'

Me: O its a male! A boy?

Gynae: M for M-I-S-S! Its a girl!

Gynae: If baby comes out too early, it will cost you more. Have you heard the idiom 'zao-sen-gui-zi'!

And he got got my hubby to cut the umbilical cord and Shout: I AM A FATHER when baby is delivered!

On a more serious note, (in my viewpoint) a good gynae. Heard many good reviews about him also. Will certainly consider going back to him in future. :p

Moving on... my delivery day- 30 April 2010

Waterbag burst @ 10am ++. Jumped out of bed & stone for a minute or so. haha.. then called my hubby, the clinic and my sister. Had a quick bath and while changing, the water leaked/burst again. Argh. While waiting for my brother to fetch me to hospi, I mopped the bedroom wood flooring! YES, I MOPPED the floor! haha. (cant imagine what will happen to my flooring if I leave it soaked with water for hours!!!) Next, I flooded my bro's new car! :p (Sorry!)

Nurse checked on me & was told I only had 2cm dilation. So gotta wait for contractions. Ask for epidurals cos my back was hurting even thou I dint feel any contractions yet. Felt asleep after the jab and awake 4-5 hours later only to found out Ive dilated 8-9cm! Preparations were soon made for the delivery. 15mins of pushing & Vera was delivered at 2020hrs. NO LABOUR PAINS! Gynae said I had happi-dural & not epidural! haha.

Embarking on new grounds

The past few weeks has been exciting for me.
I will be embarking in a few new stuffs in the coming year!
2010- A year of learning!!
Going back to school is one thing
learning about how to balance life is another
Also believing for the few new ministries to take flight!

Its easy to say I will be 100% for Him
BUT its not easy to act out 100%
even our Lord Jesus was tempted in this area

Not as I will, but according to Your will
